My experiments have left me impressed.
The current state of CSS layout
means that unless you like to spend a lot of time doing calculations
something like Susy is really useful.
The output CSS is pretty much what I’d come up with myself,
which to me is the acid test for tool use.
I consider Mozilla’s MozTrap to be one of the best
open source test case management systems out there.

OddBird really changed my thinking
about how successful remote development can be.
We were able to hire them as a complete team,
ready to start adding value immediately,
working as closely as an internal team.
Since OddBird thinks about handoff from the beginning,
maintenance has been super easy.
For example, 100% unit test coverage was a given.
I never had to ask for it.

A mobile-friendly design that will let users see the live tracking
and performance data, even on the go, making it easy to connect up
with others while out on a ride.
QuarqNet captures the data
and seamlessly synchronizes activities
with analysis sites like Strava, TrainingPeaks, and Today’s Plan.
Athletes get unaltered, high-definition data
and training log perfection.
Other developers build exactly what you say,
or they don’t understand,
and develop the wrong thing.
OddBird always thinks about the project goals.
I defer to the team expertise now,
which makes a better result.
This is hands down the best book on Sass
if you want to learn the most important parts of the Sass language
that will help you architect a good application.
The OddBird team did a great job
developing the brand for my algebra website
and revamping the site to reflect both new aesthetics
and better practices for making it look wonderful
on a variety of devices.
I appreciated how professional the team was –
keeping me informed about the process
and offering me excellent choices about what direction
to go at key points.
OddBird is high-caliber and nimble.
Innovative at heart.
Together,
we fundamentally transformed
the Chicago public school system.

I have been having so much fun with this
tool. The tool has been very helpful and
you all have really helped me think about
scheduling creatively. Thanks again!
I really enjoy this iterative design process.
Seeing how OddBird does the iteration
has improved my own iterative system with schools.
—Furman Brown, FounderatTegy
OddBird was the wise investment.
We could have selected a cheaper avenue for this work –
we would have paid for it manifold in the long run.
—Furman Brown, FounderatTegy
OddBird provided a focused team
with a wide range of talent.
—Furman Brown, FounderatTegy
OddBird allowed me to transform my vision
into an MVP that has momentum.
I’m confident I’ll be able to land big venture capital
and increase my revenue from courses,
because the tool has sped up the process.

I love working with Miriam as a project manager,
She’s excellent at reigning me in.
—Furman Brown, FounderatTegy
When we were close to testing with actual users,
I started to panic.
But Miriam asked “what do you need?”
and then we built that, and it worked.
—Furman Brown, FounderatTegy
OddBird already had so many processes
in place as a team
and knew how to work together;
that allowed us get to where we are now.

Amazing talk by Miriam Suzanne at the Beyond Tellerand conference
about the benefits of using plain CSS
instead of heavy library for your grid!
Very useful and inspiring. Thanks!
Every time I hear Miriam
talk I learn a ton and laugh a ton.
She’s an amazing speaker…
Watch this talk when it’s published!
—Sarah Drasner, VP of Developer ExperienceatNetlify
The OddBird team’s support of our engineers…
has been exemplary. OddBird is the polar opposite
of consultancies that deliver “exact words”
solutions. They understand our objectives as well
as we do, if not better, and deeply engage to
deliver those objectives.
Well that was awesome!!!
“If you think CSS is a dumb language,
you’re a dumb language – CSSISAWESOME!”
@TerribleMia thank you so much for the amazing talk!
When the inventor of the modern design system
names you as the number one person she’d hire
to build a design system, well then I jump!
I’m grateful she put us in contact.
It was easy to talk about technology options.
OddBird was both flexible
(working within the constraints of our existing systems)
and opinionated
(bringing context from past experience).
I appreciated the specific experience OddBird brought to bear
in terms of building component libraries,
particularly the need to incrementally import the component library
in order to have it successfully be used.
OddBird’s ability to take feedback and iterate
on features made it a pleasure to work with
you all. The code that was delivered at the
end of the day was always very clean!
@TerribleMia does not only explain “why CSS is how it is”
but also neatly summarizes the basic principles
of what make the Web the Web.
If you know those principles,
many implementation details will be less baffling to you.
The Workflow Builder project met and exceeded expectations.
The project was finished in budget and on time,
and we were super excited to get the outcome we did.
I think it’s a brilliant idea.
Almost want to stop talking about whether or not to do it,
and just start talking syntax.
—Florian Rivoal, Invited ExpertatW3CCSSWG
We take submissions from our team,
and Miriam was a highly desired expert we wanted to learn from!
I really appreciated the different topics
you presented as options
to best talk to our internal audience.
Oddbird developers know what they’re doing.
We appreciate you all driving us to our goals.
I’m glad usability testing was baked into the process.
It really was so valuable. We are super super happy.
OddBird communication is excellent.
They come prepared, they are deeply technical,
and they can express complex concepts to a variety of audiences.
I have invited them to meetings with execs,
designers, engineers, and our own customers.
They always do a great job representing the project.
Had a phenomenal discussion last night with @TerribleMia
on her role in shaping CSS as we know it today,
and some exciting things on the way in the world of CSS.

OddBird rewrote sass-lang.com
from the ground up
to make it easier to work on, update, and deploy.
Not only that, they added a new
online playground
and got Sass running in the browser to power it.
They’re a fantastic team that we were lucky to work with.
OddBird dropped in like a task force,
learned the ropes of programming language
design and development,
and made substantial improvements to the product.
We’d love to work with them again!
Loving the content and the interactivity.
My favorite part is seeing how [Miriam] arranged the topics
so that concepts smoothly flow into each other.
Looking forward to two more days!

OddBird is a company I recommend without reservation.
They are among the best in the world at front end,
design systems, and w3c standards.
